COLLEGE FAIR 2022

By: McKenna Craik

Senior year can be quite daunting. It is the year when you really start thinking about your future, choosing a college, or even deciding if you are going to college. Maybe you want to take a gap year or attend a trade school. Whatever your plans are, colleges still want to visit with you and promote their school. This year we had seven Adventist colleges visit our school and put on a college fair for the juniors and seniors.

We were dismissed from our classes from 1:00-2:30 to attend the fair in the gym. Everyone circled the different college tables and scanned a barcode that told the representative what majors, classes and activities they would be interested in. All the representatives were super nice and answered so many of the students' questions. It was really convenient to have an in-person college fair because this provided time for the students who had been thinking about college to learn more about these colleges and have their questions answered.

The nice thing about having a college fair is that the applications are free if you turn them in that same day. Usually applications can cost anywhere from $40-$100, so it was a great opportunity for the students to save money on applications. After everyone had gone around to each college table, we were given time to fill out the applications to the schools we desired attending. Many only applied to one or two, while others filled out all seven applications. Overall this was a great experience and was very helpful in getting familiar with the college application process and finding out more about colleges we might want to attend.
