Girls Dorm Retreat 2021

- McKenna Craik

October 29 & 30, 2021 was the girl's dorm retreat on campus and it was a blast! The weekend was filled with fun activities, great food and amazing talks done by our guest speaker Felicia Outh. The theme of the weekend was “Do you see me” and it was such a privilege to listen to all of her enlightening messages.

We kicked everything off for the weekend with dinner and a vespers Friday night. This retreat weekend gave dorm and village girls the opportunity to make new friends and get to know more about each other. Everyone was so excited that the village girls got to attend the retreat this year after not being able to last year. The whole evening was such a lighthearted and fun experience that we couldn't wait to jump into the festivities the next day.

On Saturday morning we had breakfast at 10am and then jumped into another amazing message from Felicia. She talked about the struggles of being a girl- particularly one in high school. She emphasized that we are not alone. God sees us, people see us even if we don't think anyone cares. After her talk we had a delicious lunch and then had some free time to hang out and visit with the other girls. Some took walks and hung out outside, others painted or made friendship bracelets and a few took that opportunity to grab some extra sleep. After a few hours of free time, we did a bonding activity in which we were split into groups and were given a list of questions to discuss. After this activity we had more chill time until our next talk at 5 p.m.

The last talk of the evening was an emotional one. It was an amazing experience and everyone felt the presence of God there that evening. Felicia did some amazing activities with us, and I think I speak for all of the girls when I say that it was an experience we’ll never forget. After her talk we all enjoyed pizza and banana splits before putting on the best talent show that's ever-taken place. There was so much unknown talent in that room and it was so cool to watch and participate. There was also a trash bag fashion show that drew out much creativity. A dance party ensued and we sang karaoke until the crowd died down and the night finally came to a close. It was a full but amazing weekend. Zeta Kappa and the Deans worked really hard to make it a fun experience for all. We bonded more with each other over those two days than we had all year and now all of us girls at this school know we have each other's back.
