Winter Sports at AAA

By: Stephen Ellis

Since soccer season has come to a close, we are prepared for the next sport ahead: basketball! The players have been waiting for a regular season for a long time. Now the time has come, let’s see how the teams have been doing so far.

The past couple of weeks have been intense for Falcon's basketball, both girls and boys, JV and Varsity. Varsity and JV boys played against Annie Write on December 1, 2021. It was not their best game, but it was a learning experience for the players. Varsity lost 96-22 and JV lost 57-21. December 2, 2021, the girls took on Seattle Academy. Varsity lost 56-21 and JV lost 24-8. December 4, 2021, the boys took on Summit Atlas at home and they won 62-8. On the same day, the girls took on Crosspoint Academy at home and they won 33-23. Both teams played very well and defended the nest. December 7, 2021, the boys took on Seattle Lutheran at home, getting a 67-20 victory.

Meanwhile, the Girls were playing against Cle-Elum-Roslyn. Varsity lost 70-19 and JV lost 57-17. December 9, 2021, the girls played against The Bush School. Varsity lost 58-35 and JV lost 50-11. The boys JV and Varsity will play against LAconner on Thursday, December 16, 2021.

December 15, 2021, the girls played against Kentwood and won 39-35. It was a very close game in the end, but they managed to pull away with seconds left in the 4th quarter. I asked Brandon Russell, a Varsity starter, on how he prepares for games. He said, “I have a little prayer by myself, then I take a deep breath and get focused.”
