Hope for the End of COVID

With the rise of the new Vaccine people are wondering if we are seeing some what of the end of Covid. Also with this new Vaccine and the Covid numbers getting better in different parts of the United States, we are seeing changes in restrictions for us here in Washington.

The first authorized vaccine for Covid came out on December 11 2020. We are now in March and have made a lot of progress. The United States is looking at about 21% of its population having already taken a shot of the covid vaccine. Within that number you are looking at about 11% of the population having had a second shot of the vaccine.

Here in Washington, we’ve been improving in our cases daily. This improvement has allowed us to apply as a state to get moving into Phase 3. This plan to move into Phase 3 will be happening on March 22, which was announced by Governor Inslee. This next phase will make a lot of changes in the state but also allow for us as a school to do a lot more.

What does phase 3 even do? Well in phase 3, different restaurants and stores will be allowed to go from 50% capacity to 75% capacity. Phase 3 will also allow a lot of things to happen within our school. For example, now with our volleyball games, we can hold about 100 people in attendance. But after we get into Phase 3 we will be able to double that number and go up to 200 people inside.. Not only that but with sports now with phase 3 there is a much better possibility of being able to have a basketball season, even though it might not be the same length of a normal season.

With all of this we can see good improvements here in Washington. This vaccine gives us hope that this pandemic will and is getting better and that we might be seeing the end of Covid and that we have been facing it for over a year now.
