In the month of March, there are quite a few very interesting upcoming movies, tv shows and also, award shows. With the Golden Globes having happened on February 28, and the upcoming Oscars set to air on April 25, March is the middle month for award shows. In this article, I’ll discuss some of the possible nominees for the Oscars and write about some movies that are set to come out in March. Make sure to read until the end for the fun fact and quote of the month!
Upcoming:
Godzilla vs Kong: The title to this movie explains the plot pretty well. Godzilla and Kong face off in a battle. This movie was originally set to come out much earlier in the year, but was delayed due to COVID.
Chaos Walking: I actually wrote about this film in a previous article. However, the release date ended up being pushed back to March 5. It stars Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley. It follows the plot of a book by the same name.
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier: This highly anticipated show will be released on Disney+ on March 19. It stars Sebastian Stan as Bucky and Anthony Mackie as Sam. Judging by the trailers that have come out, it seems like the two will have a nice banter that should be fun to watch.
Season 7 of The Flash: Marvel isn’t the only superhero company who are releasing shows in March. Season 7 of this D.C. show will premiere March 3 on the CW network.
Award Shows:
Award shows such as the Oscars, Golden Globes or Grammys, aren’t for everyone. Many people think they’re rigged or just a joke. However some people (me included) shamelessly enjoy them to see some of their favorite movies get recognition or just to see the red carpet beforehand. The official Oscar nominees are being announced on March 15, but there are a lot of films that are predicted to be nominated. Here’s a list:
Predicted Best Animated Feature Nominees:
Soul (Pixar)
Over the Moon (Netflix)
Onward (Pixar)
Demon Slayer: Mugen Train (Funimation)
The Croods: A New Age (DreamWorks Animation)
On-Gaku: Our Sound (GKIDS)
Predicted Best Picture Nominees:
Minari (A24)
The Trial of the Chicago 7 (Netflix)
Nomadland (Searchlight Pictures)
News of the World (Universal Pictures)
Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (Netflix)
Fun Fact of the Month:
Everyone knows the movie “The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe,” right? Well the actress that played Lucy (Georgie Henley) was carried blindfolded onto the snowy winter set of Narnia. This means that all of her reactions in the film are genuine.
Movie Quote of the Month:
“You’ll have bad times, but it’ll always wake you up to the good stuff you weren’t paying attention to.” - Good Will Hunting
On my Instagram story, I did a poll where I asked you guys which movies/T.V. shows you would be more likely to watch. Here are the results:
Season 7 of the Flash - 46% The Falcon and the Winter Soldier - 54%
