There are so many pros and cons when it comes to social media because of many reasons. Ultimately, it’s up to you whether you want to use it or not, but we can all agree that we have all used some sort of media in different ways.
In today's generation, people use their social media accounts to get their news and to talk and socialize with others to share their expressions. It seems like everybody and their grandma has a social media account, from Facebook to Tik Tok.
As a result, some people have become lazy with the way they interact and read their news. A few years ago, people would have to go outside to socialize. However, these days people just make a group facetime call or watch small video clips on social media to get their news. It may not even be coming from a trustworthy source. Years ago, people would have to read a newspaper just to see what's going on.
I do especially think that it’s been difficult with what's going on because you can’t know where your friends or family have been and if they have possible caught the virus. It is safer to facetime your friends rather than going out with them. In the last year, more people have adapted to social media because it’s so much more beneficial to help stop the spread of the virus. With people being stuck in their homes, it’s starting to affect their mental health because they’re not getting enough of social interactions that they typically would have before the pandemic.
