Senior Guidance

Next month Graduation is happening. Last year’s Senior graduation was so much different than normal. This year's seniors have lived through a whole pandemic. For many years these students have worked hard to be able to succeed in life. But what changed throughout this year, and what is something they wish they knew?

I interviewed 6 seniors, most of whom have been at Auburn Adventist Academy since they were freshmen. Melanie Jacob, Nicole Migaki, Bianca Prada, Christian Ramirez, Seth Werts, and Rishé Pierre. I chose these people because they are very different people, and I wanted to get a point of view from different sides of the spectrum. I asked them 3 questions from their experience here at Auburn. This first video shows the answers of Melanie, Rishé, and Nicole. And the last part was written questions by Bianca, Seth, and Christian.

1. If you could tell your freshman self something what would it be?

Bianca “I would tell myself that grades really aren’t everything and to just turn in homework assignments more consistently.”

Seth “A Lot of people are a lot friendlier than you think. You can make a lot of friends by joining different clubs”

Christian "I would tell my freshman self to take advantage of all the opportunities and activities AAA has to offer"

2. What advice would you give to students their first and last year here.

Bianca “I’d tell the first-year students to just make sure the little assignments get done and I’d tell the last year students to learn to take care of their metal stated, If we don’t learn how to in out last year of high school, college is going to be difficult in many overwhelming ways.”

Seth “Like I said before, a lot of people are a lot friendlier than you think, and you can make a lot of friends by joining different clubs and participating in activities.”

Christian "I would advise them to enjoy it, and take the opportunities and activities AAA has to offer"

3. What is the most important thing you learned from high school?

Bianca “The most important thing I learned from high school is that the world doesn’t expect much from you, but if you stay consistent (in homework, in bettering your health, in relationships) you can achieve great things.”

Seth “How to balance work, you have a lot more activities and you learn quickly how to manage time.”

Christian "The most important thing I've learned from high school is prioritizing and time management. Those two things will help you get through high school"
